Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has affirmed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will not back down from its nationwide sit-in protests despite a recent crackdown by authorities in Islamabad. The overnight crackdown targeted PTI workers, but Gandapur made it clear that the party’s protests would persist in the face of adversity. He emphasized that PTI’s commitment to justice and democratic principles remains unwavering despite government attempts to stifle their voice.

Gandapur’s Statement on Peaceful Protests and the Rule of Law

During a press conference in Mansehra, Gandapur reiterated that PTI’s protests have always been peaceful and conducted within the framework of the law. He stressed that the party’s struggle is not only for political change but also for protecting democracy and the rule of law in Pakistan. “We are committed to ensuring that our protests remain non-violent, as we have always done,” Gandapur stated, underscoring PTI’s dedication to lawful and democratic means of expressing dissent.

Injustice Against PTI Workers: Gunfire and Violence

Gandapur went on to condemn the use of violence against PTI workers during recent protests. He revealed that party members who participated in peaceful demonstrations were met with gunfire and other forms of aggression from law enforcement. This violence, he argued, was an attempt to silence the party’s demands for justice. “Our peaceful protests were met with bullets, and our workers were subjected to extreme brutality,” Gandapur lamented, calling the actions of the authorities a clear violation of citizens’ rights to assemble peacefully.

Imran Khan’s Imprisonment and Election Irregularities

The KP Chief Minister also highlighted the ongoing plight of PTI leader Imran Khan, who remains imprisoned under controversial circumstances. Gandapur pointed out that Khan’s incarceration was part of a larger pattern of political persecution against the party. He further criticized the February 8 elections, which PTI claims were rigged, and emphasized that the party’s legitimate mandate was stolen through fraudulent practices. “The elections were not free and fair; our mandate was taken away, and democracy was undermined,” Gandapur asserted.

PTI’s Resolve to Keep Fighting for Justice

Despite the challenges and suppression faced by PTI, Gandapur reaffirmed the party’s resolve to continue fighting for justice. He assured the public that PTI would not relent in its quest to restore democratic order and hold those responsible for election malpractice and political repression accountable. “We will continue our struggle for the truth and the rights of our people,” he declared. According to Gandapur, the ongoing protests are vital to PTI’s mission to reclaim its political mandate and ensure Pakistan’s fair and just political system.
