Worst Airlines

A new study conducted by AirHelp has revealed the top and bottom-performing airlines of 2024, shedding light on customer satisfaction, flight delays, and overall service quality. The comprehensive study analyzed data from 109 airlines spanning 54 countries and covered key factors such as in-flight services, food quality, punctuality, and customer feedback.

AirHelp’s 2024 Airline Rankings: A Comprehensive Overview

In a recent report, AirHelp unveiled the airline rankings 2024, evaluating the performance of 109 global airlines from January to October. The study focused on customer satisfaction, flight punctuality, claims processing, and feedback on in-flight experiences, such as food and cabin crew services. With more than 54 countries contributing to the data, the research provides valuable insights into which airlines excelled and which lagged.

Top Performers of 2024: Brussels Airlines Leads the Way

Brussels Airlines surged ahead in 2024, making an impressive leap from last year’s 12th place to the top spot with an outstanding score of 8.12 out of 10. This rise in ranking reflects its intense customer satisfaction and service delivery performance, particularly in flight punctuality and in-flight offerings.

Qatar Airways secures second place with a score of 8.11, reinforcing its status as a leading premium carrier. United Airlines and American Airlines earned a solid score of 8.04, securing their place in the top five. United Airlines, known for its broad network and reliability, stood out with its consistent service quality, while American Airlines continued to impress with its operational efficiency and customer care.

Iceland’s low-cost carrier, Play, made a strong showing in 5th place with a score of 7.89, a remarkable achievement for a budget airline. The airline’s efficient services and cost-effective travel options have earned it praise from travelers.

Other notable airlines in the top 10 rankings include:

  • Austrian Airlines
  • LOT Polish Airlines
  • Air Arabia
  • Widerøe
  • Air Serbia

These airlines garnered positive feedback for their overall service quality, flight punctuality, and customer-friendly in-flight experiences.

The Bottom Performers: Tunisair Tops the Worst List

On the flip side, the report also identified airlines that fell short of expectations. Tunisair, Tunisia’s national carrier, found itself at the bottom of the list, ranking 109th out of 109 airlines with a dismal score of 3.63. Frequent delays and customer complaints regarding in-flight services and flight reliability could have improved the airline’s performance.

Buzz, a Polish airline, followed closely behind Tunisair with a score of 4.45, placing it second-to-similarly; Nouvelair, another airline from Tunisian Airliners, was the lowest with a score of 4.48.

U.S. Airlines: Mixed Results

U.S. airlines showed a mixed performance. Delta Airlines, known for its robust flight network and customer service, ranked 17th with a score of 7.31. While this position is respectable, Delta’s performance could have been better to crack the top 10. Meanwhile, despite being one of the more customer-friendly U.S. carriers, Alaska Airlines found itself much further down in the rankings, finishing 88th with a score of 5.18.

Noteworthy Absence: PIA’s Omission

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was conspicuously absent from the ranking. While this may raise questions, the airline’s exclusion suggests insufficient data or non-participation in the study. PIA has faced numerous challenges over the years, including operational inefficiencies and customer complaints, but its exclusion in the rankings leaves the complete picture to be precise.

Conclusion: Airline Performance in 2024

As we look ahead to the rest of 2024, the findings of the AirHelp study highlight the importance of customer satisfaction in determining an airline’s overall performance. Airlines focusing on timely arrivals, quality in-flight services, and responsive customer care are more likely to be ranked higher. Meanwhile, airlines that fail to address delays, service quality, and customer concerns continue to struggle at the bottom of the list.

As travelers plan their flights for the remainder of the year, these rankings provide valuable insights into which airlines are worth flying with and which may require some reconsideration.
