Carlos Brathwaite Named Lahore Qalandar Captain for GSL 2024

Lahore Qalandars, the two-time Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions, have named West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite their captain for the upcoming Global Super League (GSL) 2024. The tournament, set to be held in Guyana, will feature top teams worldwide, with Brathwaite leading the charge for the Qalandars.

Brathwaite, excited about the opportunity, highlighted his familiarity with the playing conditions in Guyana, which he believes will give the team an edge. It’s a great privilege to lead the Lahore Qalandars. I’ve built incredible relationships within this team and am ready to take on this challenge,” he said. He added, “Knowing the conditions in Guyana, I am confident we can deliver strong performances and make our mark in the tournament.”

Sameen Rana, the owner of Lahore Qalandars, expressed full confidence in Brathwaite’s leadership, saying, “Carlos has been an essential member of the Qalandars family. His extensive knowledge of the local playing conditions and his rapport with the team make him the ideal choice to lead us in this historic tournament.”

The GSL 2024 will feature other prominent teams, including the three-time Vitality Blast champions Hampshire Hawks, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team Guyana Amazon Warriors, Rangpur Riders from Bangladesh, and Victoria from Australia. The action-packed tournament will unfold at Providence Stadium in Guyana, spanning from November 26 to December 6.
